In this context, IQIP, together with EnBW and Vattenfall, is advancing EQ-Piling technology with its first full-scale offshore monopile installation at the Dreekant wind farm site in German waters.
The project marks a transition from inshore demonstration to offshore validation, following earlier trials at Maasvlakte 2 in Rotterdam. The upcoming installation represents a key step toward commercial deployment of a foundation installation method designed to reduce underwater noise and carbon emissions.
Full-scale offshore validation of EQ-Piling
The monopile installation will be carried out using the floating installation vessel Orion, operated by DEME. The installation is planned as a demonstration to validate system performance under real offshore conditions, subject to final permitting.
A central objective is to demonstrate reduced noise levels during pile installation without the need for bubble curtain systems, which are commonly used to mitigate underwater noise but require additional vessels and energy consumption.
